In the presence of Belgium’s Deputy Prime Minister Didier Reynders, Mr. Artur Orzechowski, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland and Mr. Luc Baron Vansteenkiste, President of Bepolux, the Belgian company La Lorraine Bakery Group obtained the POLISH ECONOMIC EAGLE during a ceremony in the headquarters of BNP Paribas Fortis on Wednesday March 21st in Brussels.

Best Belgian company on the Polish market

The Polish Economic Eagle is awarded by H.E. the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland, in concertation with the Belgian Polish Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, as an appreciation for a Belgian company with outstanding business achievement in Poland and qualifying as “Best Belgian Company in Poland”.

During this ceremony, the award - an artwork of a Polish renowned artist - has been handed over to Mr. Guido Vanherpe, CEO of La Lorraine Bakery Group, by Mr. Didier Reynders, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and H.E. Mr. Artur Orzechowski, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the Kingdom of Belgium.

Path to growth

La Lorraine Bakery Group started selling bakery products in Poland in 2001. In 2005 it took over the Polish bakery company in Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki. Ever since the Polish branch knows a strong growth.

Between 2005 and 2017 LLBG developed a complete state-of-the-art production site. In addition to the factory with 14 ultramodern production lines, a fully automatic high-bay warehouse of 41 meters high with storage for 32,000 pallets is included on this site. In total, over 85 M euro has been invested over the last three years.

Today, this Polish branch has a turnover of 94 M euro and it employs over 750 people. The mission of La Lorraine Polska is to produce and sell innovative bakery products, such as baguettes, ciabatta, etc. on the Polish market.

In the coming years, the company will further invest in product innovations and logistic optimizations in order to keep her excellent market position in Poland.

10 Januar 2018LLBG Poland is growing

In 2017 we built a new high-bay warehouse. In 2018 we have also planned a new building, which will provide adequate space for 2 new production lines. Poland is growing and that news may certainly be shared.

New warehouse

Our Polish affiliate continues to grow impressively. In 2017 we realised our plans and built a new high bay. This warehouse allows ample room for 16,680 additional pallets. This is not surprising given the fact that the floor surface of the warehouse is 3508 square metres. This allows us to work even more efficiently, and to be able to react more quickly to our clients demands. 

New building – new production lines

In 2018 we continue to follow the road to expansion. Early this year we started on the construction of a new building, with a respectable size of 3120 square metres, in which 2 new production lines and 1 yeast plant will be housed.

Recently, our division in Turkey was presented with the ‘Great Place to Work’ award. LLBG Turkey was selected the winner out of 92 participating organisations. This was fantastic news which was most certainly celebrated!



22 November 2017LLBG sponsors Habbekrats

On Wednesday 22nd November 2017, Habbekrats organised the sixth edition of their film evening as a token of appreciation for their sponsors’ support.
We used this event to hand over the LLBG sponsoring cheque to Chris Van Lysebetten, General Coordinator at Habbekrats. The amount was raised by the LLBG employees through their participation in the LLBG Triathlon, which was doubled by the management. This amount will allow Habbekrats and the many young people behind this organisation to realise their dreams.

What is Habbekrats?

Habbekrats is a fabulous youth organisation which provides ‘shelter’ for children and youngsters aged from 8 up to 18 who are looking for warmth, friendship, adventure and support throughout Belgium. To provide this, Habbekrats has already established a total of 11 warm and welcoming houses to which more than 2500 young people can find their way.

15 September 2017A new high for LLBG

Mid-September we officially opened the tallest building of the entire LLBG Group.

The Bakery Frozen division features steady annual growth of 15%, which made the need for additional space for warehousing a must. For this reason, we started the construction of a hypermodern warehouse.

This warehouse shall be filled with completed and frozen products, which is why the temperature in the high-bay warehouse will always be maintained at minus 25° Celsius. Seven fully-automated cranes work inside the warehouse, in an atmosphere with a decreased oxygen level, to reduce the risk of fire to an absolute minimum.

This fully-automated high-bay warehouse, featuring a height of 44 meters and space for 27,000 pallets, is the first step in the further development of a state-of-the-art site for the Bake-Off Frozen division.

In the coming years, LLBG shall continue to invest heavily to make this site in Erpe-Mere a leading production site, which will serve as a reference for all future LLBG developments on a national and international level. 


10 September 2017Playing sport together is much more fun!

9th of September arrived… the long-expected sporting event of the year… the one and only LLBG triathlon!

This was the third time LLBG had organised the triathlon, and once again it proved to be a huge success… we were happy to welcome 155 colleagues from all our European affiliates. Apart from the quarter triathlon for the more experienced participants, beginning sportsmen and women could register for the sprint triathlon this year as well.
According to the age-old tradition, a great time for relaxation followed the efforts, including drinks, good food and lots of socialising!

Organising sports activities is fully in line with the LLBG philosophy: we are convinced that each company can play an important role in employees’ health. After all, sufficient physical activity ensures healthier, fitter, and in the end, happier people. Without a doubt this is true for all activities in the workplace. Exactly the reason why we encourage all sports activities: ranging from triathlons to cycle challenges…

In 2018 we will once again mount our bikes and all participate in a famous cycling race.… We will keep everyone in suspense on what the destination will be next year!


20 Juli 2017La Lorraine at Tomorrowland. Experience the magic

In addition to the music, food also plays a central role in Tomorrowland magic. This was personally experienced by the LLBG bakery team, consisting of 12 members. On 20th July they were all set and ready to serve the ‘People of Tomorrow’ in Dreamville with many tasty goodies.

In the early hours of the morning they baked the buns, prepared cakes ready to be served, and waited for the first early birds to arrive, even though they found their way to our bakery a bit later each day. Within several days a staggering amount of bakery products was sold: 9800 baguettes, 915 loaves of bread and 27,400 pastries, including croissants, raisin buns and other sweets. It was also evident that the partygoers were very fond of cakes as well, for at least 12,250 of them were sold.

And there is more…

This is certainly not all. In addition to what the bakery at Dreamville offered, we also provided the necessary products to the other food stands. Apart from 9200 baguettes, more than 10,000 sandwiches were consumed by the festival crew and employees. However, the people in the VIP tent could also enjoy the LLBG delights: 45,800 mini sweet bites and 91,500 hearty bites were appreciated by the guests.

As such, we can conclude: not only music contributes to the magic at Tomorrowland; the magic of good food plays a major role as well.

Entrepreneurship is for LLBG a key pillar for success.
On the basis of this concept, we support Youthstart.

Youthstart is an initiative which supports youngsters on a somewhat winding course. It provides them with the opportunity to fully develop their organisational skills and to test these in practice. After successfully completing the ‘entrepreneurial mindset and entrepreneurship’ course and following the further development of a business plan, no fewer than 11 students from the Oscar Romero college in Dendermonde graduated and received their ‘certificate’.

Following an official judging process headed by CEO Guido Vanherpe and HR Manager Philip Depondt, they received their certificate during a ceremony at the headquarters in Ninove.

29 April 2017Modern new production line at La Lorraine Ostend

La Lorraine Oostende is increasing its production capacity with a brand-new production line with a width of 4 metres and a length of 25 metres.

Due to the increased efficiency, the new line can produce 3000 loaves of bread per hour, using 5 employees. This new technology also leads to improved and more consistent quality.
This investment is in line with the growth strategy, whereby LLBG focuses on quality. The production line boosts the site in Oostende with extremely important expertise to enable further sustainable growth.

7 Dezember 2016La Lorraine Bakery Group wins Family Business Award of Excellence


During the evening of 7 December 2016 in Brussels, La Lorraine Bakery Group was elected to become ambassador of the Belgian “Family Business Award of Excellence.” Ernst & Young (EY) organised this initiative together with FBN Belgium and GUBERNA, three key players committed to the development of family businesses in Belgium. The other finalists were Ardo, Puratos, Van De Velde and the Van Roey Group. Chaired by Luc De Bruyckere, the panel of judges commended La Lorraine Bakery Group in particular for its authenticity, enthusiasm and entrepreneurship, qualities forming a unifying theme within an outstanding governance structure.

This award is made in recognition of family businesses that stand out in terms of good governance both in the family and business, their vision and maintenance of family values, ensuring the entrepreneurial spirit is passed on from generation to generation, their communication strategy and social commitment.

Guido Van Herpe, La Lorraine Bakery Group CEO, was handed the award by panel member De Bruyckere. A wholly Belgian family-owned group operating in the European bakery sector, La Lorraine Bakery Group is a market leader in Belgium for the manufacture and distribution of a wide range of freshly baked bread and pastry products. It also one of the leading players for frozen bakery specialities and bread packed in a protective atmosphere. Operating in 25 countries, the group is under the management of the third generation. Employing more than 3,000 people, this fast-growing family business posted a turnover of €620 million in 2015. Their Panos store concept is the standard by which others are judged on the Belgian filled soft roll market.

Rewarded for authenticity, enthusiasm and entrepreneurship

The panel of judges chose as their criteria good governance, vision and the maintenance of family values, ensuring the entrepreneurial spirit is passed on from generation to generation, the communication strategy and the social commitment of the company. Chaired by Luc De Bruyckere the panel members were Christ’l Joris, Catherine Noel, Jacques Crahay, and Matthieu Boone.

The panel chairman Luc De Bruyckere explains how the panel reached its decision: “La Lorraine Bakery Group is a copybook example of how it should be done. Its strong and clear vision for the company and family and has been remarkably successful in reflecting this vision within the structures. La Lorraine has created specific tools for ensuring that an outstanding system of governance is developed that is espoused and applied within the family and between the family and management. What is more, the enthusiasm and feelings are clearly perceptible, while the emphasis continues to be firmly placed on entrepreneurship. Excellent and timely preparations have also been made for the succession. La Lorraine is authentic and able to count on a fluent discourse. The company has demonstrated how very resilient it was in the wake of the serious fire that devastated the main registered office in 2008. Finally, it has succeeded in adopting a visionary approach to developing a controlled international presence. La Lorraine is therefore an excellent example of what we seek to highlight with this award”.

Award for Belgian family-run businesses that excel

This is the third time EY has joined forces with FBN Belgium and GUBERNA to organise the Family Business Award of Excellence. La Lorraine Bakery Group is following Reynaers Aluminium (2015) and Cosucra (2014). La Lorraine Bakery Group was also chosen to be the “Company of the Year” in 2012. As Belgian ambassador of the ‘Family Business Award of Excellence’, La Lorraine Bakery Group will represent our country during the annual Family Business Summit being held in Monte Carlo in early June.

Câmpia Turzii (Romania), September 30, 2016

The official launch event of La Lorraine Romania’s third production line took place on September 30th, in Câmpia Turzii. The new line is designed for the production of Kaiser Rolls.

La Lorraine Romania, a joint venture between La Lorraine Bakery Group and Macromex, is the largest and most modern frozen bakery plant in Romania. Since its official opening in November 2011, due to the high demand for convenience and premium quality, the factory has expanded to 3 production lines, which has tripled the production in the last five years.

This state-of-the art frozen bakery plant is part of an ambitious expansion plan of La Lorraine Bakery Group in fast-growing Eastern-Europe emerging markets. The new production line also implied an important expansion by 6.000 square meters of the factory and a 10 mil. Euros investment. The total investment in the Romanian factory amounts to 29 mil. Euros today.

State-of-the-art lay-out design, cutting edge technology and a highly skilled operating team make La Lorraine Romania one of the most efficient frozen bakery plants in Europe. It produces a remarkable range of breads in all shapes, textures and sizes. More than 100 types of products are being made on the 3 lines. The first line is dedicated to the production of rolls and baguettes, the second line is destined for rustic products, while the new line produces Kaiser Rolls.

Today the factory is receiving daily 80 tons of high specification flour from local mills. This makes La Lorraine Romania one of the largest clients for local suppliers.

The food safety policy is very simple for La Lorraine Bakery Group : zero tolerance. No expense is spared to make sure the products are 100% safe for consumers. Strict safety, hygiene and quality procedures are in place and every hour batches are sampled and tested. The plant has also received the IFS 6 certificate, one of the highest food standards in the world.

The 3 fully automated production lines work 24/7, with more than 30% of the energy being supplied by a solar park nearby.

The products are stored in the logistic center nearby – Edenia Distribution Center, the highest frozen high bay in Europe. From there they are shipped to customers in Romania and across several other countries, ranging from modern and traditional retailers to HORECA clients. In Romania, the products can be found in the biggest chain stores but also in foodservice.

From a small team of 28 members, La Lorraine Romania has now become one of the largest employers in the region. The highly qualified local team shares the knowledge of the entire La Lorraine Bakery Group through sustained trainings several times a year. They carry on the group’s superior quality standards, expertise and passion for bread.

Manisa (Turkey), September 22nd, 2016

La Lorraine Bakery Group is proud to officially inaugurate its new frozen bakery plant in Manisa.

The state-of-the art frozen production plant is part of an ambitious expansion plan of La Lorraine Bakery Group in fast-growing emerging markets such as Eastern-Europe and Turkey.

The investment of 23 million Euro (100 Million Turkish lira) in the new Manisa plant will allow La Lorraine Turkey to be a pioneer of high-quality frozen bakery (or 'bake-off') products and to become a leading bakery company offering to the Turkish consumers a wide choice of innovative bakery products, such as French baguettes, bread rolls, artisan breads and ciabatta.

The ‘Bake-off’ technology allows supermarkets and foodservice (HORECA) customers to offer top quality and freshly baked bakery products to their clients at affordable prices.

La Lorraine Turkey

La Lorraine Turkey was created in 2013 as a frozen Bakery import & sales division of La Lorraine Bakery Group. In 2014 La Lorraine Turkey started supplying the Migros retail chain with a complete assortment of frozen part-baked Bakery products, which are baked every day to ultimate freshness in each of the supermarket stores.

In 2015 the company started developing a network of frozen distributor's to supply its foodservice (HORECA Hotel restaurant and Cafeteria) customers in and around the main Turkish cities, such as Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, (Bursa), Bodrum, Antalya, Bursa, Adana and (Mersin).

The newly built plant starts its operation with one fully automated bread line(s). In the future the plant can increase its capacity with 6 additional bakery lines to widen its assortment in breads, croissants and savory products.

La Lorraine Turkey will employ 80 (around 100) people by the end of 2016.

In the next 5 years the La Lorraine Turkey expects to invest another 20 mio Euro (100 million Turkish Lira) in production capacity extension and will increase the number of employees to 150 people.

11 März 2016La Lorraine Bakery Group sponsors the new Napoleon Games Cycling Cup

The Belgian Cycling Cup is a new test of regularity comprising ten one-day races, evenly spread across Belgium and forming part of the UCI Europe Tour.

The aim is to allow young cyclists the opportunity to gain the spotlight during the long-haul test and measure themselves against today's leading lights.

The new organisation will help boost the reputation and enhance the experience of these competitions.

All the races will be broadcast live by the broadcasters VTM and RTBF, covered during television news programmes and featured in reports by the newspaper Het Nieuwsblad.

22 Dezember 2015Acquisition of Le Bon Grain Morlanwelz

End of December 2015, La Lorraine Bakery Group took over the bankrupt production plant of Le Bon Grain Morlanwelz.

The company will be called La Lorraine Morlanwelz SA.

The acquisition and the plant of Morlanwelz has several strategic advantages for LLBG:

-    Good and complementary geographic location
-    Can, in the future, relieve our other fresh plants, when they reach their maximum capacity.
-    Nice factory and production facilities on a surface of 5,7 ha, with expansion capacity.
-    This should enhance an extra turnover of 10 mio euro in the region of Morlanwelz.
-    So globally, a nice enforcement of our global fresh strategy in Belgium.

The acquisition was done in a really short period of 5 days, a new record for LLBG.

This could happen thanks to a strong and competent teamwork.

La Lorraine Bakery Group is proud to officially inaugurate its new fully automated frozen High-Bay warehouse in Poland in the presence of his Majesty the King of the Belgians.
The state-of-the-art warehouse is part of an ambitious investment program of 50 mio Euro which will allow the La Lorraine Polska frozen bakery plant to double its production capacity.
La Lorraine Bakery Group is a Belgian based family company active in milling and baking for more than 75 years. La Lorraine started its long term ‘Go-East’ strategy 15 years ago and has since then become one of the market leaders of frozen bakery products in Eastern Europe and in Poland. This strategy has brought a large range of innovative bakery products to the CEE and Polish consumers, using the very successful ‘bake-off’ technology. ‘Bake-off’ allows supermarkets and horeca customers to offer top quality and ultimate fresh bakery products to their clients at affordable prices.  
In 2012 the group’s long term vision and successful growth of more than 10% per year during the last decade were rewarded as ‘Entrepreneur of the year 2012 – Belgium’.

High-bay Warehouse

Fully automated High-bay warehouses are state-of-the-art innovative warehouses. The La Lorraine Polska High Bay warehouse is a 41 meters high silo construction with an inner rack structure which can contain 16.000 pallets. Pallets are loaded and unloaded in a fully automatic way by robot cranes. As no people may enter into the warehouse, the oxygen level within the building can be reduced to 15%, which reduces fire risk to an absolute minimum. This innovative warehouse concept also allows a significant saving of energy, which has a positive impact on our environment.

La Lorraine Poland

La Lorraine Polska started its sales operations in Poland in 2001 to introduce bake-off into the Polish market. In 2005 it acquired a Polish bakery company in Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki. Since then the group invested approx. 70 million euro in its Polish operation, expanding the factory to a capacity of 10 state-of-the-art production lines. La Lorraine Polska has a turnover of 75 mio euro and offers today jobs to more than 600 people. The mission of La Lorraine Polska is to produce and sell innovative bakery products (such as baguettes, ciabatta, etc. ...) to the Polish market.

From 12 January through 13 February 2015 the new edition of "Entrepreneur in the Classroom' takes place, the largest educational project between the final year of secondary school and higher education and companies in Flanders.

Faced with a looming major study or profession choice many young people ask important questions: what do companies expect from graduates; which skills are necessary to successfully work in a company and what are entrepreneurship and entrepreneurs exactly? Nothing is more exciting than asking those questions directly to enthusiastic entrepreneurs and company directors themselves!

In this edition 350 entrepreneurs and managers will give more than 550 lectures  on entrepreneurship over 5 weeks secondary schools and colleges throughout Flanders. Thereby more than 11 000 young people are given the unique opportunity to get in touch with the business world and to ask all their burning questions to experienced professionals.

On 3 February 2015 Guido Vanherpe CEO LLBG, will give a classroom session to the students of the 6th year economics at the St. Barbara College in Ghent.

Guido Vanherpe: "This is a wonderful initiative to inspire 18 year old young people and to motivate them to be enterprising in the professional and life choices they have to make. Entrepreneurship can be shown in all professions by developing a passion for what they do. Passion leads to better results and greater satisfaction! L’été dernier, la communauté abbatiale a annoncé qu’elle entendait donner une nouvelle orientation à ses activités économiques séculaires et qu’elle ferait donc développer un panier de savoureux produits artisanaux de qualité.

Aujourd’hui c’est enfin chose faite : l’Abbaye a présenté, avec ses partenaires, le panier longuement attendu, contenant le pain, le fromage et la bière de l’Abbaye d’Averbode. Ces produits avec une âme ont été élaborés avec un sens de la qualité, du respect et de la passion. Ce panier, qui s’inscrit totalement dans la tradition de l’abbaye, rassemble les gens et les invite à déguster une harmonie de saveurs unique. Et à partager ainsi l’harmonie du moment. Ce slogan est une traduction contemporaine des traditions et valeurs abbatiales : il renvoie d’une part à des moments de partage et de plaisir, mais d’autre part aussi à des moments de silence et de réflexion. En un mot, ‘L’harmonie du moment’ joint l’intensité du moment à la simplicité.

Le lancement s’accompagne d’un nouveau logo, qui renvoie clairement lui aussi à l’Abbaye et à son rôle au sein de la société. Les deux A – les initiales de l’Abbaye d’Averbode – forment
une croix, un des symboles les plus forts dans un contexte religieux et, en même temps, un symbole de la croisée de plusieurs mondes. Depuis sa création en 1134, l’Abbaye associe en effet vie spirituelle et engagement au service de la société au sens large.

Le pain de l’Abbaye d’Averbode

Le pain était - et est toujours - un élément essentiel de l’alimentation quotidienne de la communauté abbatiale. Rien d’étonnant donc à ce que le pain fasse partie intégrante du panier de produits de qualité que lance l’Abbaye. Pour élaborer le pain de l’Abbaye d’Averbode, la communauté de Norbertins d’Averbode a soigneusement choisi son partenaire : La Lorraine Bakery Group. Tout comme l’Abbaye, La Lorraine Bakery Group attache beaucoup d’importance à l’authenticité et à la tradition. Le respect de ces valeurs et de la nature est donc un élément essentiel de tout le processus de développement de ce pain savoureux. Le pain complet d’Averbode associe en effet le meilleur de la nature au savoir-faire et à la passion du boulanger. Les trois céréales – froment, avoine et seigle – subtilement complétées de levain et levure naturelle, donnent au pain son goût particulièrement riche et authentique. L’utilisation de l’eau en quantité importante donne, quant à elle, une mie à la fois ferme et aérée. Le résultat est un pain délicieux, élaboré de façon traditionnelle, dans le respect de la pureté authentique.

Mais le grand secret de ce pain particulièrement savoureux est… le temps. Après le pétrissage et une première fermentation, le pâton est façonné à la main et déposé, selon la tradition, dans une petite corbeille. Un temps de repos prolongé permet ensuite à la pâte de poursuivre sa fermentation et aux saveurs riches et naturelles de se développer pleinement. Alors seulement vient l’enfournage : le pain est cuit sur une pierre volcanique incandescente, ce qui permet la formation d’une croûte délicieusement croustillante. Le résultat est un pain traditionnel, élaboré avec passion dans le respect de la pureté authentique.

Partenaire exclusif

Pour la distribution des produits, l’Abbaye collabore en exclusivité avec Delhaize. Patrick Verhamme, Vice Président Achats de Delhaize Belgique, explique : “Sur le marché du détail belge, Delhaize fait oeuvre de pionnier dans le domaine des produits locaux et offre déjà plus de 1000 produits locaux dans son assortiment complet. Delhaize entend ainsi offrir à ses clients la possibilité de découvrir et de consommer davantage de produits régionaux. Ces dernières années, nous constatons d’ailleurs une nette augmentation de la demande de produits
authentiques, d’origine locale. Les clients portent de l’intérêt à l’histoire derrière le produit. Et l’Abbaye d’Averbode et ses produits de qualité s’y prêtent parfaitement. Delhaize est convaincu que ces produits seront très appréciés des clients. En élargissant son offre de produits locaux, Delhaize témoigne de son engagement à soutenir les économies locales afin que celles-ci puissent continuer à se développer. Le fait que la vente de ces produits soit associée à une bonne cause, est pour Delhaize la cerise sur le gâteau. » Les produits de l’Abbaye d’Averbode seront disponibles à partir du 30 avril chez Delhaize. Ceux qui ne voudraient pas attendre jusque là, pourront se rendre dès le 23 avril au magasin de l’abbaye sur le
site de l’Abbaye où les produits seront disponibles en exclusivité à la dégustation et en prévente. Le fromage d’abbaye sera également disponible dans les crèmeries spécialisées et chez
les commerçants ambulants spécialisés. Pour la bière d’abbaye, il sera possible de la trouver également dans les commerces de boissons spécialisés et des établissements horeca.

Centre d’expérience

L’Abbaye consacrera les revenus des produits de l’Abbaye d’Averbode à des projets caritatifs, à des publications éducatives offrant une valeur ajoutée sur le plan social et à des projets
patrimoniaux. Plusieurs bâtiments de service seront ainsi restaurés pour accueillir une micro-brasserie, une fromagerie, une boulangerie, un espace de rencontre et un magasin d’abbaye.
Cet ensemble pourra ainsi devenir un centre d’expérience, qui permettra de redécouvrir, entre autres, des activités artisanales traditionnelles. La SA De Drie Provinciën – la société que la communauté abbatiale a créée spécialement pour ce projet – gèrera toutes les activités économiques et se chargera aussi de l’exploitation du centre d’expérience. Pour ce faire, l’Abbaye a d’ailleurs la volonté explicite de collaborer activement avec un projet d’intégration par l’emploi.

En collaboration avec les Editions Averbode et Toerisme Vlaanderen, la société développera aussi une offre éducative et touristique autour des artisanats traditionnels, de l’agriculture, de la vie abbatiale et de la localisation unique au coeur du domaine de Merode. Conjointement avec le centre d’expérience à la Porte Ouest de l’Abbaye, cette offre ne fera que renforcer et étendre la nouvelle ‘vocation’ de l’Abbaye d’Averbode, à savoir celle de porte d’accès au domaine de Merode. En même temps, le rôle de l’Abbaye en tant qu’oasis de silence, de recueillement, de prière et de réflexion sera préservé.

31 Januar 2014Fire in La Lorraine Czech Republic

On Friday January 31, 2014, a severe fire took place in the production plant of La Lorraine Czech Republic. The fire started in an old warehouse, that is currently under renovation, and spread rapidly to other parts of the plant. Luckily, everyone was evacuated in due time and no one was seriously injured.

Thanks to a well-coordinated and strong action of the Central Bohemia and Prague fire brigades, the most critical production areas and the new frozen highbay warehouse could be saved from the fire.

The complete factory has been immediately put to a stop due to severe fire and smoke damage; some utilities like the electrical circuits have been damaged as well. All necessary measures have already been taken to ensure a quick restart of the production. We foresee a gradual restart of the production lines in the next 4 weeks.

In the meantime, the production and deliveries are guaranteed through the other plants of La Lorraine Bakery Group, which will reduce the impact on our clients to an absolute minimum. La Lorraine is adequately assured for such fire damage
